Deck & Hull
Prominently featured on this vessel is a Howard stainless steel arch (2008) on which are mounted the following: two (2) solar panels (75 watts each), two (2) VHF antennas, GPS antenna, radar, wind generator and dinghy davits. The cockpit features 6'10" long seats with contoured seat backs and seat drains. Three cockpit seat lockers for storage and an engine access hatch in the cockpit floor. Cockpit floor also features deep gutters and two 1 1/2" drains to seacocks for fast cocpit self-bailing. Two safety-harness pad eyes, two combing boxes for winch handles, one with hot and cold freshwater shower mounted. Edson rack-and-pinion pedestal wheel steering with brake and offset stainless steel pedestal guard, single-lever engine throttle/shift control.
The Scheel Keel: See the illustration below. The Scheel Keel causes an important change in the way water flows under a boat fitted with a conventional deep fin keel. A conventional keel allows water to flow from the high-pressure leeward side to the low-pressure windward side. What results is a drag inducing vortex, one of the primary contributors to residual resistance of a vessel's keel.
The flared shape of the Scheel Keel greatly reduces the leeward-to-windward water flow, thus cutting down on residual resistance. Also, the water flow tends to be more laminar than turbulent. So, residual resistance is reduced even more.
At the same time, this keel requires about a foot less draft than a deep fin keel and there is no need for a centerboard. That makes life a lot easier. Best of all, the shape of the Scheel Keel provides ballast at the lowest possible center of gravity. That means maximum vessel stability and sail carrying capacity, which produce the fastest possible boat speed.

Additional
This vessel's designer, W.I.B. Crealock is indeed a legend among contemporary naval architects. Most of his younger years were spent cruising the South Seas. His designs are universally admired - each a product of extensive cruising experience, an unrivaled expertise in the science of his craft, and a well-honed eye for handsome, graceful lines. He is now recognized as one of the world's leading authorities of performance cruising boats.
"I particularly enjoy the challenge of the cruising boat," says Mr. Crealock. "I happen to believe that control and balance are crucial, particularly for a small crew, because proper balance greatly reduces fatigue. This helps make the passage a great part of the fun. To achieve this end in the Crealock 37, we were well aware of the potential pitfalls of the split underbody hull and we devoted much time and thought to the shaping of bustle, skeg and rudder in the search for control. I like to think that the result is what produced perhaps the single dominant feature of all the Pacific Seacraft boats - their incredible balance."
